The Rosemount High School Concert Choir is open to female and male singers in grades 11 and 12. Concert Choir is designed to fulfill the needs of those students who desire a strong background in choral singing. The choir performs all styles of choral literature from the renaissance through the Contemporary periods. Emphasis is placed on solo and ensemble singing. The choir performs at festivals, contests, contests, concerts, and other school events.
Each fall, the RHS Concert Choir joins with its sister choirs in Independent School District 196 for the Dakota Valley Choral Festival. The festival has been a tradition in the Rosemount community for over 30 years. Concert Choir has traveled to Europe, the Czech Republic and the British Isles both individually and with choirs from its sister schools in the district. In 2005, Concert Choir performed with world-renowned Chanticleer and in 2010 were invited to perform at The Singers – Minnesota Choral Artists’ Morten Lauridsen Festival.
The Concert Choir has a long tradition of excellence in performance and has been invited to appear at state and divisional conventions of the American Choral Directors Association, the Dorian Vocal Festival at Luther College, the St. Olaf College Choral Day, the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire Clearwater Choral Festival and the Northstar Choral festival.
During the 2015 - 2016 school year, Concert Choir returned to Luther College as the featured high school chorus for the 2015 Dorian Vocal Festival. The Concert Choir also was the featured choir at the 2015 Wartburg College Meistersinger Festival. The 2016-2017 Concert Choir was selected to perform at the Minnesota Music Educators Association Mid-Winter Clinic. This school year, Concert Choirhas been invited to perform at the VocalEssence Cantare Festival, held at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in May 2018.
