Concert Choir

Concert Choir

Concert Choir is an SATB choir for advanced singers in grades 11 and 12. The choir performs all styles of choral literature from the Renaissance to the contemporary era. Solo and small-ensemble singing is also strongly emphasized. Concert Choir performs at concerts, festivals, contests, and other school and community events.

Every fall for over four decades, Concert Choir has performed with the advanced mixed choirs from other ISD 196 high schools at the Dakota Valley Choral Festival. Concert Choir has also traveled to Europe, both individually and with other choirs in our school district. In 2005, Concert Choir performed with world-renowned choral ensemble Chanticleer, and in 2010 they were invited to perform at a Morten Lauridsen festival hosted by The Singers - Minnesota Choral Artists.

Concert Choir has a long tradition of excellence in performance and has been invited to appear at state and divisional conventions of the American Choral Directors Association, Dorian Vocal Festival at Luther College, St. Olaf College Choral Day, University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire Clearwater Choral Festival and the Northstar Choral festival. Recent invited appearances include the Dorian Vocal Festival at Luther and the Meistersinger Festival at Wartburg College in 2015, the Minnesota Music Educators Association Mid-Winter Clinic in 2013 and 2016, and the VocalEssence Cantare Festival in 2018.
